Spay Day 2012

Please Don't "Litter": Spay and Neuter Your Pets!

The Animal Welfare League of Arlington Participates in
World Spay Day in February

In conjunction with the Humane Society of the Uniteds States World Spay Day, the Animal Welfare League of Arlington will offer discounted spays and neuters for pets of low-income clients in the metro area. This will occur on four dates in 2012: February 3rd, February 10th, February 17th and February 24th. Participants must meet the annual household income requirement of $40,000 or less (proof of household income is required) and must be available to drop off their animals the morning of their spay appointment and pick up their animals that same evening.

The Spay Day pricing is only available during the month of February. The fees are: $25 for male cats and $50 for female cats and male/female dogs. Clients registering their pets for spay or neuter will also be offered a rabies vaccination and a microchip for an additional fee.

We do have limited space for this event, so if you qualify and would like to register your pet, please send email Kimberly Harman at kharman@awla.org or call her at (703) 931-9241 x246.

The League will not be spaying or neutering any feral cats on these days as the League has a separate, established program to meet those needs. For more information about the feral cat program, please e-mail tnr@awla.org or call 703-931-9241 x222.

The benefits of spaying or neutering your dog or cat are far too abundant to ignore. Not only does it help to reduce the tragedy of pet overpopulation and the number of homeless pets, it also reduces many health and behavioral risks for dogs and cats. Visit our Spay-Neuter page for more information about these benefits.

To help in this effort, please consider a donation to the Animal Welfare League of Arlington's Hantke Memorial Low-Cost Spay Neuter Fund. You can donate for this particular event or to help fight pet overpopulation year-round.
