Dear Friends, I don’t know about you, but with the world in its current upside down, inside out state, I am taking greater comfort than ever from my pets. I have two dogs and two cats and as I work from home, my dogs sit by my feet and follow me wherever I go. Make a cup of tea? They’re there. Check the mail? By my side. Talk to myself? No judgement. Happy to listen.
My cats keep me to a tight schedule based on the clock in their stomachs. Thanks to them, I get to stretch my limbs, admire the night sky, and welcome the dawn at 2am, 5am, and 7am daily. I then have a break until 5pm when they inform me that they are starrrrrving and need dinner. Immediately. Despite and because of their quirks, I love my pets. They are my family and I want to make sure that they have whatever they need.
If this pandemic has you thinking about how to provide for your pets now, and in the future, let me know. AWLA has programs and services to help pet owners keep and care for their pets. We have a Pet Supply Pantry and a Safekeeping Program for Arlington County residents, and helpful information about estate planning for pet owners. We’re here for you. Let us know how we can give you the comfort our pets give to us. I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Kat Williams, Director of Development kwilliams@awla.org
