AWLA’s primary goal is keeping pets with their people.
We Are Here to Help
Many pet-related problems are solvable. Whether it’s a behavior concern, a housing issue, or something else, AWLA has programs and resources available for you and your pet. Please call us at (703) 931-9241.
However, we know that sometimes it’s just not possible to keep a pet. AWLA is here for you. Residents of Arlington County or the City of Falls Church may email us at firstname.lastname@example.org to schedule an appointment to surrender your pet.

What You’ll Need to Bring
- Valid photo ID with your current address
- Pet’s medical records
It is extremely important for you to obtain your animal’s medical records and bring them with you. A lack of medical information can delay the time it takes to evaluate your pet, and thus delay its availability for adoption.
- Submit a pet personality profile
Information about your pet’s health, behavior, habits, likes, dislikes, and more help us give your pet the best care possible. When you schedule your appointment, a staff member will send you the profile to complete and will review it with you during your appointment.
