SUMMARY:20th Anniversary Walk for the Animals & Pet Festival
DESCRIPTION:On Saturday\, May 9th step forward for shelter animals at Animal Welfare League of Arlington’s 20th Anniversary Walk for the Animals and Pet Festival at Bluemont Park. For two decades Arlington County’s largest pet-centered event has brought two-legged and four-legged residents together for a day of celebration and fun to benefit shelter animals\, services and programs supported by AWLA—The County’s only humane society.Lace up your walking shoes\, leash up Fido and join hundreds of animal enthusiasts for a 5k walk or one-mile stroll through the park. After the walk\, the 20th anniversary celebration will continue with a newly added Pet Festival. Shop pet-friendly vendors\, view exciting demonstrations\, and indulge in a savory bite from a food truck. Children will also enjoy craft and educational activities in the Kid’s Corner.Since 1994\, AWLA’s Walk for the Animals has provided for tens of thousands of animals in our care\, allowing them medical care\, food and shelter\, and the chance at a nice life. Over the years it has become a hallmark event in Arlington County and a sought after event for people and pooches alike! \nWhile the Walk for the Animals has evolved over the past 20 years\, the goal has stayed the same: to raise money for AWLA’s mission of improving the lives of animals. Help us reach our goal of raising $100\,000! Prizes will be awarded for top fundraisers! But\, the biggest reward will be the satisfaction you receive from knowing that each step you took and dollar you raised helped to improve and enrich the quality of life for a shelter animal. \nFunds generated at the Walk for the Animals aid in the daily care of our animals as well as help our community through various programs. By registering for the Walk for the Animals\, building a fundraising page and asking friends and family for donations\, you are supporting our mission and the needs of these animals. If each person who registers for the Walk raises just $75\, we would be able to hit our goal of $100\,000. \nHelp us help them – register for the 20th Anniversary Walk for the Animals today!
