DESCRIPTION:Calendar Contest will open October 1st\, 2024 for Entries and Votes!\nNow is your chance to give your pet the ultimate spotlight with their photo on the cover of our 2025 calendar!\n\nEach photo entry and vote equals life-saving funds for animals in need. From tiny kittens\, to senior pups\, injured wildlife\, pet parents in need\, and everything in between\, your participation supports our mission to improve the lives of pets and people in Arlington County. \nBetween October 1st – October 31st\, you can upload your pets’ photos ($25 donation per photo entry) and ask your friends and family to cast votes ($1 per vote\, 5 vote minimum) online. \nSo what are you waiting for? DESCRIPTION:Kids CARE Club (Creating a Responsible Environment) is a program series for animal lovers ages 5-9 and their families to learn how to keep pets and wildlife safe through hands-on activities and crafts. Join us this October for a Howl-oween themed evening\, including a spooky craft\, DIY dog treats\, and a how-to on keeping animals safe this holiday! \nParents must attend along with their children. If you have multiple children attending\, please purchase one spot each. SUMMARY:Low-Cost Vaccine & Microchip Clinic
DESCRIPTION:Get your pets their vaccines or a microchip at AWLA!  \nAWLA offers rabies vaccines\, distemper vaccines (DAPPv for dogs and HCPCh for cats)\, and microchips for cats and dogs. \nThese clinics are by reservation only. You must register in advance for a designated time. Registration for this clinic will open the Friday in the week prior. \nThis clinic is SOLD OUT. \nRabies shots are $15\, distemper shots are free\, and microchips are $35. \n\nNO CASH\, card payment only.\nAll humans must wear a mask at all times and maintain an appropriate distance of at least 6 feet in all situations.\nIf you arrive after your designated time\, you will lose your spot.\nAll dogs must be on a leash\, and all cats in carriers. Retractable leashes are not allowed.\nIf your pet is reactive to humans or other animals\, please do not sign up for this clinic. We ask that you seek advice from a veterinarian.\nThe clinic is indoors in the AWLA Education Room. Waiting is outside\, so please dress appropriately for the weather.\nIf you want a three-year rabies shot\, you must bring proof of prior rabies shot (vet records or rabies certificates only\, or dog licenses only\, tags do not count).\nDistemper shots are based on the age\, and vaccine history of each pet. If you do not bring proof your pet has received this vaccine before and is not past due\, they will need a booster in 2-4 weeks.\nWe do not offer 3 year distemper shots.\n\nAll paperwork for this clinic will be done at the clinic. \nAdditional Information About Rabies Vaccinations\nVirginia law requires that all dogs and cats four months of age and older have a current rabies vaccine. Please bring proof of a prior rabies shot (a rabies certificate\, not a tag) to get a three-year rabies shot. Without it\, your pet will receive a one-year shot. All dogs must be on leashes and cats must be in carriers. \nAdditional Information About Microchipping\nGive your pet the protection of a 24PetWatch MiniChip. Each year thousands of lost and abandoned animals are taken in by shelters and humane societies across the country. Some of these animals never make it home because they cannot be identified. Microchipping offers the only truly permanent method of identifying your pet and linking the animal back to you\, the owner. \n*Dates are subject to change at the discretion of AWLA
