Volunteer Photographers and Graphic Designers

Volunteer Photographer

*Currently, our program is full and we are not taking applications for volunteer photographers. Please check back as this may change in the future!*

The easiest way to show off a pet’s sparkling personality is with a great photo. That’s why we are looking for professional and experienced amateur photographers to join our Pawparazzi Team and photograph adoptable animals at the Animal Welfare League of Arlington. Your photos will encourage adopters to visit the shelter and take home their new best friend!

We require that all photographers have their own DSLR or professional-level camera and basic technical and aesthetic skills, but other than that, all you need is a good eye and a desire to help homeless animals! Volunteer photographers will be paired up with a fully-trained Photo Assistant, who will help with all aspects of photo shoots, from setting up equipment to helping pose animals for the perfect photo. Volunteer photographers need to be able to commit to at least one two-hour photo session per month, but weekly commitments are preferred. We schedule photo sessions on Mon-Fri from 10am-7pm, or Sat-Sun from 10am-5pm.

If you are interested in joining our Pawparazzi Team, please complete this short Volunteer Photographer Survey. Once submitted, the Communications Specialist will contact you within a few days to schedule a time for you to come in for a short interview. At this time, we will schedule a ‘trial’ photo session, determine your preferred photo session schedule, take a tour of the shelter, and sign all necessary paperwork. We look forward to hearing from you!

Volunteer Graphic Designer

Bright and engaging online/print content helps us share AWLA’s mission and the important work AWLA does for animals in need. If you’re a graphic designer with a few free hours a month and experience creating brochures, newsletters, logos, websites, or social media graphics, we need you! Fill out this short Volunteer Graphic Designer Survey and our Communications Specialist will contact you within a few days. We look forward to working with you!

**Please note, new volunteer recruitment is based upon the League’s needs, which means that not every person who applies to volunteer can be accepted. Not being accepted into the volunteer program does not mean that we do not appreciate or want your support but rather that your current skills and/or availability may not be a match for the shelter’s current needs.**
