Officer Karina Swetnam is Arlington County’s first Deputy Resource Officer. Karina fell in love with working with animals in her late 20s and has worked in animal welfare ever since. Karina is trilingual in English, Spanish, and ASL. Karina has served as an Animal Control Officer in the DC Metro Region for almost a decade. Karina is deeply passionate about serving the community and helping families in any way possible with their pets. Karina looks forward to growing this new role here at AWLA that bridges the Animal Control and Community Resource Departments.
