AWLA records shelter statistics according to a uniform set of criteria, guiding principles, standardized definitions, and statistics (the Asilomar Accords) designed to track animals entering and leaving shelters in the United States. Using this tool, animal welfare organizations have a common means for recording, reporting, and measuring the outcome of their life saving efforts.
