Adoptions Process
Meet & Greet
- Please follow the instructions in each pet's profile.
- For in-shelter pets:
- Visit pets in person at the shelter during regular business hours.
- For in-foster pets:
- To meet an animal that is in a foster home, please email the address listed in the pet’s profile.
- The foster family will work with you to schedule a virtual or in-person (at the discretion of the foster family) meet & greet within 24-48 hours.
- The meet & greet does not guarantee adoption.
- If you have questions about introducing your current pets to your new pet, please email or call in advance.
Complete Your Application
- For in-shelter pets:
- After your meet & greet, fill out an application at our Adoptions Desk.
- Applications are processed on a first-come, first-matched basis.
- A staff member will review your application, go over the pet's records, and answer any questions you may have.
- If you are unable to take your new pet home at the time of application, we can hold the pet for you until the close of business the following day for a non-refundable $25 hold fee. If you choose to adopt, this fee is applied to your final adoption fee.
- For in-foster pets:
- After your meet & greet, the pet's foster parent will email you a link to the pet's online application. An animal remains available for adoption until your application is submitted. Applications are processed on a first-come, first-matched basis.
- After your application is received, a staff member will email you to schedule a time (during business hours) to review your application.
Sign Contracts & Pay Adoption Fee
- Once your application has been approved, you will sign the adoption contract and pay the adoption fee.
- Please note: pets must be picked up within 24-48 hours following adoption application approval, in-foster or in-shelter.
Take Home Your New Pet!
- Dogs must leave the building wearing a collar and leash (I.D. tag is included in your adoption).
- Cat must leave the building in a cat carrier and wearing a breakaway collar with I.D. tag (I.D. tag is included in your adoption fee).
- All other animals must leave the building in an appropriate carrier.
Pawjama Parties (Dogs Only)
- Eligible dogs may be taken home with potential adopters for a two-week sleepover - this is your chance to get to know the pet and fall in love!
- Adopters must stay in communication with our adoptions team during the sleepover.
- There is a $50 non-refundable fee to take a dog on a sleepover. If you choose to adopt, this fee is applied to your final adoption fee.
