AWLA’s goal is to keep pets with their families by providing pet care essentials including food, enrichment items, preventatives, and more.
Residents of Arlington County and Falls Church City may pick up items at our Animal Services desk anytime during our regular business hours (weekdays from 12-7pm and weekends from 12-4). We are closed on Tuesdays. No proof of income is required - if you need assistance, we are here to help! Please be aware, we rely on donations for the majority of our supplies, so specific brands and varieties are not guaranteed.
Not an Arlington County or Falls Church City resident? Pet pantries are available in Alexandria City, Fairfax County, and Washington D.C.
Pet Pantry Delivery Days
For Arlington County and Falls Church City residents who are homebound or physically unable to pick up supplies at the shelter, AWLA offers a select delivery day where supplies can be dropped off at your home. Our Pet Pantry is stocked and supported by generous donations, so we cannot guarantee what particular items will be available for distribution on the day of the event. A typical delivery can include wet and dry food for cats and dogs as needed.
Deliveries are on the 1st Friday of each month from 9-11 am. A one-time registration for the year is required.
How You Can Support AWLA’s Pet Pantry:
- Purchase an Amazon Gift Card! Have it sent to communitysupport@awla.org and in the ‘message’ section, enter “AWLA Pet Pantry”.
- Purchase items from our Amazon Gift List.
- Donate items directly to the Pet Pantry! Our most-needed items are:
- Canned cat food, any brand (cases preferred).
- Dry dog food, any brand (small and medium sized bags preferred).
- Canned dog food, any size or brand.

Become a Pantry Partner!
Join us as a Pantry Partner and make a difference in your community! AWLA's Pet Pantry supports around 450 families each month, providing vital resources for pets in need. As a Pantry Partner, you’ll also have the opportunity to create your own pet food donation drives to support our mission. We invite individuals, groups, and businesses of all sizes to join us. Will you partner with us to keep the pantry full?
How It Works:
- Gather Your Team: Assemble your group of friends, family, or colleagues who will help collect pet food.
- Register as a Partner: Once you’re ready to start, complete the Pet Pantry Partner Registration Form.
- Set a Collection Goal: Determine how much pet food you aim to collect during your drive.
- Establish a Deadline: Choose a date to wrap up your food drive and achieve your donation goal.
- Get Creative: Use your creativity and teamwork to promote your drive and maximize your collections!
- Schedule a Drop-off: Once your food drive is complete, email communitysupport@awla.org to arrange a time to drop off the collected pet food for the pantry.
