About Me

Meet Joie De Vivre!

Joie De Vivre is a sensitive, gentle boy who is looking for a quiet home where he can settle in at his own pace. Shelter life was overwhelming for him, and he had a difficult time adjusting to the busy environment. With time, patience, and space to decompress, he slowly began to build trust with staff and volunteers and showed us the sweet cat hiding beneath his shy exterior.

Because of this, Joie’s transition into a new home will require a family that understands the importance of a slow decompression period. This is not just a recommendation for Joie it is imperative to his success. His new family should be prepared to set up a small, quiet area where he can feel safe while adjusting to his new surroundings. We recommend using a feline pheromone diffuser in his space to help increase his comfort, as well as sound masking or white noise to help block unfamiliar or startling sounds.

For at least the first week, and potentially several weeks depending on his comfort level, Joie’s family should avoid placing any social pressure on him. Instead, interactions should consist of 3-4 short sessions each day, lasting no more than 5-10 minutes at a time. Sitting quietly nearby, speaking softly, reading aloud, or simply sharing space without expectations will help him learn that he is safe and allow trust to develop naturally.

Joie would do best in a quieter home without other pets and with family members who will respect his need for space while he settles in. He is looking for adopters who understand that some cats need a little extra time to feel comfortable and that the best relationships are sometimes built slowly.

The good news? Once Joie feels safe and comfortable, his true personality begins to shine. The shy cat you meet at first gives way to a sweet, relaxed, and incredibly chill companion who enjoys being part of the household. Watching him grow in confidence and reveal his affectionate, easygoing nature is a rewarding experience that makes every bit of patience worthwhile.
