The Senior Experience Internship Program at Animal Welfare League of Arlington (AWLA) is an in-person internship for high school seniors whose school offers a senior experience program and who are interested in animal welfare, nonprofit work, and community service.
This program gives students hands-on experience and an inside look at how a professional animal welfare organization operates—while contributing meaningfully to the community.
Program Overview
- Program Length: 50-100 hours
- Eligibility: High school seniors
- Internship Year: 2026
- Number of Interns Selected: Up to 10 students
Each intern is placed in a department based on their interests, skills, and availability. Possible placements include animal care, adoptions, community outreach, marketing, development, veterinary services, or operations.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must:
- Be a high school senior
- Be 18 years or older by the start of the program
- Be able to complete their school hour requirements
- Have an interest in animal welfare or nonprofit work
Application Timeline
- Application Deadline: March 6, 2026
- Decision Notifications: Sent at least one week before the student’s school deadline
Due to limited space, the program is competitive, and not all applicants will be selected.
