That is exactly what a single mother of two was facing when she came to AWLA earlier this year. She and her children loved their dog – he was an important part of their family – but money was tight and food was expensive.
When I learned why this family was going to surrender their dog, I asked if they had heard of our Pet Pantry. I explained that our pantry provides free pet food and supplies to Arlington residents who can use a helping hand. The mother was thrilled to find out that, thanks to our Pet Pantry, their dog could remain home with them. Now I see the family every couple of weeks and get updates about their dear dog when they come to the shelter to get pet food. Your gift today will benefit families just like this one.
