“I relocated to the mainland from Hawaii with my dog Sebastian. A job I was offered fell through and that left me in what I initially thought would be just a predicament but quickly turned into a crisis. My dog developed an ear infection due to food allergies and, being in a completely different environment, he became allergic to that too. I contacted AWLA to ask for guidance regarding Sebastian’s ear infection and Shaukeria was the AWLA team member who responded to my email. I was not expecting the rapid response, or the assistance I have received for Sebastian. He was seen immediately at a vet and his ear infection was treated really well and very quickly.
I thought that would be the end of the assistance but it was not. My journey had gotten to a critical point and feeding us both was now a problem. I reached out to AWLA again to ask if they could help with food. Shaukeria jumped in and provided food and little toys for Sebastian. The relief was immense. I was becoming worried I would have to surrender him. Adam at AWLA arranged for allergy free food for Sebastian just before Thanksgiving!
