November Blog: Celebrate Animal Welfare Week with CFC

November is here and with it comes the official start of the holiday giving season, otherwise known as the busiest time of year for nonprofits. For many organizations, including AWLA, the critical funds needed to operate throughout an entire year will come during the next two months.

Every donation helps, and we’re especially grateful that many of you in the federal government elect to make AWLA your charity of choice in the annual Combined Federal Campaign (CFC). For those who may not be familiar with the program, the CFC is the official workplace giving campaign of the federal government. Pledges made by Federal civilian, postal and military donors during the campaign season support approved charity organizations, like AWLA. This year’s campaign is underway and runs through January 11, 2019.

If you haven’t already, it’s not too late to pledge. Being part of a CFC program allows you to give a little each pay period, adding up to a big contribution at the end of each year. Federal retirees can also pledge gifts through their annuity, and it’s easier than ever thanks to more user-friendly improvements to the online pledge website and more streamlined paper pledge forms.

We’re very grateful to be located in Arlington, VA, and to be a staple of a community largely made up of current or retired federal employees. And we want to thank each and every one of you who choose to give to AWLA through your workplace CFC. Your generosity has helped us raise nearly $300,000.00 since FY 2016 – that’s a lot of animal lives saved!
