Today marks the start of Animal Care and Control Week, a week of appreciation designed to give recognition to those hard working people who provide critical animal-related services to our community. For AWLA, every Animal Care and Control Week is special, but this year more so than usual. While many of us are at home hunkering down, AWLA’s Animal Care, Control, and Front Desk teams are in the shelter every day, putting themselves at potential risk for the animals and for our community.
In the age of COVID-19, they are the essential personnel on the frontline supporting pet owners with whatever animal-related needs that may arise, and serving as first responders in this ever-evolving crisis. We are thankful for the many ways these individuals make our community a better place including: running a pet pantry, reuniting animals with their families, responding to calls for animals in distress, and taking care of AWLA pets. These are just some examples as there are too many acts of kindness and compassion to mention. Please join us in saying “thank you” to those dedicated and hardworking Animal Care, Control and Front Desk employees who are stepping up to keep us – and our animals – safe.
Sincerely,
Sam Wolbert, President & CEO and Amy Schindler, Chief Operating Officer
